What is a tax rebate?

A tax rebate is your entitlement to a refund of any overpaid tax during the financial year, as determined by the Inland Revenue.

When is the financial year?

The football season runs from July to May but we have to claim for the financial year, so from 6th April to the 5th April.  Therefore the start of your claim will include the end of the previous season.

When can I claim my refund?

At the end of the financial year (5TH APRIL).

How much can I reclaim?

The average refund obtained by Rift is between £500 and £600 per tax year however it will depend on your indvidual circumstances.

How far back can I claim?

You are able to claim back for the last six years repsectively.

What records do I need to make a claim?

In order to process your claim, you will need to provide Rift with the following documentation:

  • Copies of your P60, P45 and P11D for the years you are claiming.
  • Relevant wage slips for the period you are claiming for.
  • Copies of your contracts for the relevant clubs.
  • Photcopy of your drivers licence (ID card and photo part) Copy of a utility bill Receipts for any equipment you are claiming for (boots etc)

You will still be able to make a claim even if you're not in possession of all of the documents listed. Please call one of our claims specialists for more information.

The rules governing claimable travel are very complex but Rifts experienced team make the process as simple for you as possible.

How long will it take to receive my refund?

The revenue usually take between 10-12 weeks to process a refund.
